Knock. Knock.
I opened the door and saw two witches, a ghost and a monster. They Shouted: Trick or treat! I was so surprised that I did not know what to do. I heard my aunt’s voice: Glive them some sweets. I don’t want to find soap on the windows or a pin in the doorbell. I gave the children some chocolate bars and they ran away, lughing. They played some pranks on our neighbour who did not open the door.
Boo!, somebody howled. My younger cousin, with a mask on her face, tried to frighten me. What’s up? I don’t get it. It’s 31 October, Halloween, Francesca said, The night of ghosts and witches. Do you want to come with us to a party?, asked her sister, Roberta. Sure, I do.
So you must dress up. An hour later, the three of us, disguised as witches, arrived at the party. The room was full of ghosts, goblins, monsters, devils, fairies and witches carrying their broomsticks. On walls there were scary pictures and on the windowsills- some jack-o’-lanters. Quick! The competition is beginning’ said one of the monsters. I saw a tube filled with water. There were four apples in it. You must pick one apple with your teeth. It’s not so easy’, Roberta laughed when she saw how I spat out some water which had got into my mouth and tried again to bite the apple.
When the party was over, everybody got a jack-o’-lantern; a pumpkin with cut out eyes, nose and mouth and a candle inside. We went trick-or-treating and then arrived home. We sat by the fire and listened to my aunt’s ghost stories. They were really terrifyling. When I finally went to bed, everything seemed spooky. I left the light on and slept with the quit overmy head.
