My Family - There is no place like home
My name is Adrian. I am 23 years old. I have got a great family. We live in a detached house in the suburbs (przedmieścia) of Darłowo.
My mother is 45 and her name is Mary. She is middle-sized (o średnim wzroście) woman with blue eyes and fair hair. She is a very good mother. She always defuses (łagodzi) conflicts between me and my little sister, and she likes going on shopping spree. My father's name is Michał. He is 49 and he works in Darłówko. He is a border guard so he is often at his workplace. However, he tries to spend his free time with us. My father is a family man (dobry mąż i ojciec). He cares for us when our mother is away, for instance, he cooks for us and he is responsible for household management. We both like going fishing and driving fast cars so I can tell that it runs in the family (to jest u nas rodzinne).
I have got a sister. Her name is Alice. She is eighteen and she is quite pretty. Many boys find her attractive. She is really a culture vulture (osoba lubiąca rozrywki kulturowe). She loves going to the theatre. She is just hooked on (uzależniona) it. Alice is a shopaholic also. She, together with my mother, spends an inordinate (nadmierny) amount of time seeking after some fancy dresses because she likes being dressed to kill. We have got a dog also. His name is Arnold. He is domesticated (udomowiony) and I like him very much because he is so funny with his big ears and long nose. We enjoy going for a walk to a park or meadow with Arnold. There, we can lock ourselves away from everyday problems and spend some time together. When I play with Arnold, our parents have a talk about their issues and my sister can read some books she is interested in.
In conclusion, I cannot tell that I have got a bad family. We try to respect each other. However, there are some conflicts between my family members that we try to conciliate (załagodzić). Thus, tranquility and understanding prevail at my home strengthening our bonds.
