What do we call people who don’t eat meat? Everybody knows the answer. They’re called vegetarians. But what do we call animals that don’t eat meat? You wouldn’t call a sheep or a cow ‘a vegetarian’, would you? Well, the word is ‘herbivores’. Difficult isn’t it? Herbivores don’t kill other animals. They eat plants to survive. Herbivores usually live in big groups because it’s safer for them. They must be careful and fast. What about lions and tigers? They eat meat and they often hunt herbivores. We call them ‘carnivores’. They’re really dangerous as they must kill to survive.
